KEY EFFICIENCY PROCESSES

C3Medical has many teams implanted over several continents who ensure efficiency, solidity and fluidity for the patient, using a structured approach.

The 5 key efficiency levers are :

  • The combined action of world-class partners : mostly top medical specialists and leading hospitals, but also other “stake-holders” and key partners involved in the process (eg. paramedics)
  • A 2nd Opinion, for each case, to decide whether or not to treat the patient in France
  • A “Time + Cost-effective” care process where the C3Medical team seeks every opportunity to reduce the duration of the care path, and consequently the overall cost
  • A state-of-the art digital information system – MGPS Best Care - developed “in-house”, which provides 24/7 real-time information via mobile or PC, with controlled access to all parties involved during the care path process or for consultation years after the treatment
  • A long-term follow-up policy and actions to provide the patient with optimum chance for continued health improvement

Medical specialists

C3Medical organizes fast access to the best medical teams, corresponding to the patient's pathology, while ensuring the best "return on investment".

These specialists are working in public or private hospitals, in Paris or in other main French cities.

All these experts have proven track records, using developed and innovative approaches and techniques on a large number of patients, in hospitals benefiting from installations equipped with the latest technology.

C3Medical makes sure they are provided with all the medical data needed to determine the best care path treatment for your case, and gives support for all the associated logistics.

In return they commit to giving a response in a few hours, providing, in that short time, an overall picture of the treatment path, taking into account the specificities of international patients.

Hospitals

Among the top French hospitals within its medical partnership network, C3Medical is proud to manage the international patients of the prestigious Institut Curie for cancer treatment and of the Institut Mutualiste Montsouris / IMM, for cardio-thoracic, digestive and orthopedic care.

C3Medical is also in daily collaboration with Necker Hospital – first hospital in the world, built in the XVIII century, dedicated to caring for children and young adults -, Neuro St Anne Hospital for neurology and neurosurgery, Quinze-Vingt Hospital for eye care and St Joseph Hospital for digestive, plastic reconstruction, etc.

Other partners

In some more complex care paths, around 30 different specialists, - other than the doctors, nurses and medical personnel -, can be involved, from translators, paramedics to sanitary evacuation experts, coming from all continents.

Thanks to close collaboration developed over the years, with hundreds of patients per annum, C3Medical boasts a robust network of highly efficient and pro-active partners who can act rapidly 24/7 around the globe.

2nd Opinion or RCP to decide

The starting point of potentially receiving a patient in France, is a “2nd opinion” decision made by a team of qualified specialists who will decide if there is any benefit for the patient to be treated in France.

This honest and transparent decision, bearing the names of the doctors, is key : C3Medical always respects the decision and will never contradict it.

If it is positive, C3Medical will make sure the patient receives a detailed proposal in less than 5 days – if no further medical information is needed or in the case of a cancer (see below RCP explanation).

The final decision is taken by a team of the best specialists, based on careful examination of the patient's medical records and, when feasible, in close collaboration with his doctor or his hospital.

This decision is never taken by one single specialist alone.

In the field of cancer, this decision making process is very strict and formal, regulated by law, to ensure maximum quality for the patient. It often takes a little longer (except for eye cancer, where there is an emergency procedure of a few hours, given the rapidity of evolution of this illness).

This is because the decision must be taken during a formal meeting called “RCP” (“Réunion de Concertation Pluridisciplinaire” / “Multidisciplinary Decision Meeting”) which usually takes place once a week, in each French cancer hospital.

It reunites at least 3 certified cancer specialists : an oncolongist doctor, a surgeon and a radio-therapist. All must be experienced and have a minimum high level of activity, as defined by law.

They collectively decide on the best care path for the patient and sign a protocole which will be the foundation for the entire action-plan to fight against the patient's cancer.

IMPROVING TIME EFFICIENCY AND REDUCING COSTS

As efficiency of treatment often means the care path needs to start quickly, C3Medical teams are fast to react, ensuring each step of the medical path’s preparation and execution is completed as fast as possible.

This rapidity and reactivity both decreases the overall treatment cost and increases comfort for the patient and his relatives by limiting the stress factors.

While maintaining optimum quality of care and services, the purpose of all C3Medical Financial and Controlling Team’s actions is simple but complex to achieve : to stay within the initial financial budget and when possible - despite the random nature of a patient's reaction to treatment -, to save on spending.

If savings versus the initial budget are made, C3Medical will reimburse the difference : this is one key characteristic that makes C3 Medical stand out from its competitors.

To ensure the best "return on investment" of the care path financially, the C3Medical Financial & Controlling Department constantly seeks to optimize expenditure.

The C3Medical Care Team manages, organizes and coordinates the entire medical and logistical services within the patient care path, in partnership with the members of its network (ex. doctors, hospitals, health facilities, paramedics, transport companies, hoteliers, personal services, concierge).

The main cost lies with hospitalization as it is an expensive place to stay : it costs 10 times more than a premium hotel room. For example, avoiding one unnecessary day at the hospital can save between €1,500 and €4,000. C3Medical gathers some of the few medical professionals who detect and take into account this aspect of budget control.

In parallel, the C3Medical Financial & Controlling Team analyzes each expense and bill on a daily basis, applying very tight control procedures.

To assist the patient or his insurance company with budget control, regular expense reports are issued and at the end of the care path, all the final bills are communicated.

This demanding, meticulous and constant action is the backbone of a highly efficient process, ensuring full control on medical and logistical expenses, which results in an optimized budget for an optimum care path.

INCREASED PATIENT COMFORT AND REDUCED FACTORS OF STRESS

Reducing the stress and discomfort for the patient and his family is also an important factor that is considered. This means hosting the patient, when possible, in a more comfortable environment, as staying in hospital presents additional risk factors due to the presence of nosocomial diseases. Even if French hospitals are reputed to being among the safest, it is better to reduce the time spent in hospital whenever possible.

In the same light, optimized travel times, fast access to care, reducing waiting time to a minimum, whenever possible - if this doesn’t effect the quality of medical treatment - are efficient levers resulting in increased comfort and reduced factors of stress, for the patient and his relatives.

MGPS BESTCARE INFORMATION SYSTEM

To keep you in the “driver's seat” throughout the your patient's care process, you will be connected through the MGPS BestCare digital platform for instant information about your patients, allowing 24/7 communication with them and with all the partners involved in the care path:  the doctors, the C3Medical teams and its partners.

All the data is stored in a highly secured digital environment, authorized and certified by strict regulations, such as the European GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the French HADS (Hébergement Autorisé des Données de Santé).

POST-TREATMENT FOLLOW UP

The mission of C3medical doesn’t stop when the care path ends in France: post-treatment long-term follow-up – often necessary in the case of complex pathologies such as cancer - is also part of its mission.

Thanks to close partnerships C3Medical has developed over time or which have recently been set up, between French hospitals and leading foreign hospitals, and with qualified doctors around the globe, our team will make sure you benefit from the best post-treatment follow-up when you arrive back home in your country.

A dedicated team is in charge: you will not be left to cope alone (see “Step 12 - Post-medical treatment follow-up” in “The 12 steps of the care path into details”), and instant access to C3Medical MGPS BestCare digital platform – for you and your doctors – to recover all the records and files related to your treatment, even years later, is the key to this efficient long-term follow-up program.
